Don't try and start/begin by looking for the best/newestproducts to promote as an affiliate/internet marketer. Very tempting because that is what most tell you to do; look for what has a high demand and a 'gravity' between 20-100 and you should be on your way.

People however don't go on the Internet looking/searching for a product to buy. They go looking for information to solve a problem and during the course of addressing their problem resolution they may buy a product if they think it is an appropriate resolution to the problem/difficulty for which they are looking for an answer/solution.

The need/demand and the market always precedes the question of "what product"? We/You need to understand/determine what people really want to buy and why, before determining what product to offer. Get that part right and then you will have a hungry market to address. A good product does not sell itself, only the need for the product in the first place and then the good product distinguishes/differentiates itself from the other products/solutions in the market place serving the same need.

"What should I sell?", is the question that will spring first to your mind, but guard against answering it in the order. What products are hot selling? These are the questions most people are trying to find an answer in order for them to make the definite decision. If we really want to know the answer to this question, our only choice is to do some research, but research in a 'reverse engineering format' to see if there is actually a real need for that product and an actual problem for which people are prepared to spend money to solve.

There are all kinds of twists along the road that may lead you to think you have a high-demand idea. You must however be able to understand/validate and satisfy the need, wants and expectations of our customers on a certain product that they're trying to buy, based on the problem being solved not the fanciness of the product.

This issue of the problem to be solved is the same no matter whether you are selling your own or another person's as an affiliate; there is no difference between the two.

Get this wrong and you will have a clever and smart product but no market, no demand and certainly no one really willing to part with their money.
