Twitter has become an increasingly popular aspect of many online advertisers strategies; it not only provides a venue to assemble a log of devoted followers, but it also simplifies ongoing communication with them. Its a great strategy that may possibly yield incredible profits. If youre not careful and pay attention to what youre doing you can put in a lot of time and effort for nothing and kill your reputation in the process. You need to keep from making a few basic mistakes to make things go your way on Twitter.

One enormous mistake that marketers make is to send out tweets that are pure spam; their promotional efforts will be summarily ignored by the whole community because theres no personal message. Think of your tweets as dinner conversation at the table they should be short, simple, but powerful in the information conveyed. Members of Twitter are looking for that same kind of casual social interaction when they login. If someone on Twitter gets promotional spam from someone theyve never even tweeted before its an instant negative and youre out the door. You want your tweets to be of benefit for any of your followers, not come across looking like a sales pitch. Your tweets should be nothing but helpful. Of course that doesnt mean you arent able to promote through your tweets. However, you want to make sure that you do so after youve given them plenty of value. If, for instance, your business sells cosmetics or hair products, offer them tips on applying and styling first, then maybe throw in your bid for the specific cosmetics to apply or hair products to meet their styling needs. With suggestions and endorsements instead of hard core advertising, you can effectively market with Twitter. This is, after all, a social network. With that in mind, be sociable. Be a person -not a corporation. A face, not a business. If you are able to be totally real and helpful in your approach, people will be willing to buy.

Its critical to remember that Twitter is a community and that you have to continue to participate on a regular basis if you expect to see positive results from your marketing efforts. Thats something a lot of marketers forget. Without giving, you cant expect to receive. This pitfall is simply sidestepped, fortunately for all marketeers out there. Due to the community spirit of Twitter, your participation means following others who are in your niche a well as responding personally to any and all tweets sent to you. If all you do is send one-way tweets without any interaction with everyone else, dont look for any returns. This comes down to simple logic if you are planning to use Twitter as marketing tool, youll need to be working on getting some followers. That means you need to fit in, make some friends, help out your community. Dont just talk to an empty room; draw them to your words of wisdom. Remember, when you make them feel theyve received benefit, they will in turn give back to you. All in all, Twitter marketing is all about staying away from these common mistakes that only take common sense to avoid.

The Twitter pitfalls mentioned above are quite easy to avoid. Recently I created a The Best Spinner, Learn and Master Painting course, and online dating tips twitter accounts and my followers have all been easy to market to. It's easy and you can too.
